Now Accepting New Clients!
Catie arrived in the counseling profession by way of her own story and a lifelong genuine interest in people and learning. After receiving her B.S. in Psychology and M.S. in Management at the University of Florida, Catie stayed at UF to join campus ministry staff with Cru (formerly Campus Crusade for Christ). Through her experience with Cru, she discovered a deep joy and fondness for walking with people through the pain and confusion of their stories. She loved to listen and support students as they sought clarity in where they have been and who they are becoming. During that time, she pursued her own counseling for the first time and recognized the depth of healing that could be reached with the compassion, intentionality and rapport built with a trained therapist. Catie then knew she wanted to take time to develop the thoughtful skills needed to be with people as they navigate life. She completed her Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Central Florida.
As a counselor, Catie hopes to create a sense of safety and rest while she supports clients to discover their emotional world and relational patterns to pursue a place of healing. She is passionate about people feeling and discovering their capacity to be known, seen, and understood in a world that is often too busy to slow down and be curious. She believes that our deepest wounds result from relationships, and that there, too, our true healing is found. Catie approaches counseling from a trauma-informed, attachment-based, emotion-focused perspective, often incorporating other counseling approaches to fit the needs of the client. She utilizes experiential and mindfulness techniques to engage the relationship between mind, body, brain, and behavior. She has previous experience working in eating disorder and substance use treatment facilities but enjoys working with clients with a variety of concerns and backgrounds.
Outside of session, Catie enjoys spending time one-on-one with a friend, or with her husband, Michael, while sipping local coffee or riding bikes along the trails. You can often catch her playing with her kitty, Mr. Steve, baking at home or flipping through a good book.
