Sandra B. Stanford has a heart for people who find themselves in hard situations. Because of this passion she earned her master’s degree in Psychological Counseling. Her work with clients is collaborative working alongside the client to help in the healing process. Sandra’s goal is to help clients recognize, define, and achieve growth and healing in their hearts and home.
Sandra is certified in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) which is a powerful psychotherapy approach that has helped an estimated two million people of all ages relieve many types of psychological distress. It addresses trauma and how traumatic events can become “stuck” in our brains. EMDR Therapy helps clients to release the memories (which may be triggered by smells, feelings, or thoughts) in a way that heals and brings peace. Learn more about EMDR therapy.
Sandra is in the process of being trained in Sand Tray therapy which is an expressive therapy using sand and miniatures. These tools help the client to find solutions to their problems and provides insight for inner healing. She also pairs it with EMDR Therapy.
Sandra has training in attachment theory and in somatic healing. She enjoys teaching her clients about the Polyvagal Theory which addresses the nervous system and how to regulate in a healthy way.
Working with couples is one of Sandra’s specialties and joy. She is certified in the Prepare & Enrich program. She is trained in Emotional Intimacy which teaches couples how to connect on a deeper level; addressing areas of communication, conflict resolution, empathy, needs, and forgiveness. She also works with couples who are broken from an affair and desire healing. It is a hard process, but it is worth it! (see: In-depth counseling here)
