Licensed Mental Health Counselor
Matt studied psychology as an undergraduate at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio where he volunteered at a community crisis center. He then began his career at a behavioral hospital in Orlando, where he further developed his passion to care for people, especially those struggling with debilitating mental disorders. After earning a master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling from Rollins College, he went on to pursue a career in clinical research, which included providing neuropsychiatric assessments to patients.
For 18 months, Matt and his family lived in the East African nation of Uganda, where he began a psychological services program in a psychiatric hospital, working as a mental health counselor and training Ugandans in basic counseling skills.
Matt enjoys working with a diverse range of clients and provides a safe environment for people to be open about their painful life experiences and personal struggles, and grow from them. Identifying clients’ personal strengths and abilities is a very important part of counseling, and Matt will work with clients to utilize their innate assets to overcome challenges.
For the small percentage of time he is not fully occupied and entertained by his two young boys, Matt enjoys reading novels and watching movies, exercising and playing soccer.
