David’s journey to becoming a therapist stemmed from a profound personal experience. After more than twenty-five years in a successful finance career, his youngest son suffered a traumatic brain injury due to a serious accident. His son was in a coma for a month, and when he awoke, he faced physical, emotional, and psychological challenges that greatly impacted his daily life. David and his wife devoted the next three years to his care and recovery, an experience that transformed David’s perspective on healing, resilience, and life’s priorities.
What began as a search for resources and understanding to support his son’s recovery, particularly in relation to the psychological and neurological aspects of trauma and recovery, gradually transformed into something more. David was drawn to counseling and mental health, fostering a desire to walk alongside others facing their own challenges. This shift led him to leave the investment world and pursue a new vocation in counseling. Now in the final year of his master’s program at Loyola University Chicago, David is committed to helping others navigate life’s struggles with empathy, insight, and accompaniment.
David brings a unique blend of professional and personal experience to his work as a therapist. With over two decades in high-level investment leadership and experience working closely with executives, entrepreneurs, companies, organizations, and boards, he understands the intense pressures of high-performance environments and the toll they can take on mental and emotional well-being, including the effects of chronic stress, decision fatigue, and high-stakes pressure. However, it was walking alongside his youngest son through a long and painful recovery that ultimately reshaped David’s life and career. That experience provided him with more than insight; it gave him a deep, lived understanding of grief, trauma, pain, and the strength required to keep going when life breaks open.
Today, he draws from both worlds: the insight gained from his business roles and the deep compassion developed through caregiving to meet clients where they are. While he frequently works with professionals on peak performance, resiliency, stress management, impostor syndrome, anxiety, depression, and life transitions, he is equally committed to supporting individuals from all walks of life facing various life challenges. His training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and other integrated approaches, along with ongoing professional development, reflects a strong foundation in evidence-based, compassionate care. Whether someone is in crisis or simply feeling stuck, David provides a thoughtful, grounded presence to help them move forward with clarity and purpose.
David has been happily married to his best friend for over 30 years. They have three adult children and a goofy Bernedoodle. When he’s not at the office, he enjoys reading, learning something new daily, traveling, working out, and culinary exploration.
