Trevor is a Student Intern, currently pursuing his Master’s Degree online in Mental Health Counseling from Colorado Christian University. After finishing his undergrad in 2009 in Business and Spanish, counseling was nowhere on Trevor’s radar. However, in a place of relational brokenness and utter desperation, Trevor had a radical encounter with Christ in the Dominican Republic just before finishing his undergrad. This moment would forever reshape the trajectory of Trevor’s calling and career. After just a few years working in Medical Device Sales, Trevor could not shake his stirring to pursue full-time ministry. Shortly after entering full-time ministry, Trevor realized that he was the one who still needed healing. Still hung up by a past marked by trauma, betrayal, shame, and addictions of various kinds, Trevor began to seek healing on a deeper level. This led him to pursue his own counseling. As Trevor has continued to work though his own story and pursue greater levels of healing and wholeness, he has discovered his calling to bring to others the healing gift he first received in counseling.
With nearly a decade in pastoral ministry, Trevor has extensive experience working one-on-one with youth, young adults, and adults in a pastoral counseling setting. Through his own journey of healing through counseling, Trevor discovered his passion for coming alongside others in their hurts and struggles to guide them toward healing and hope. Specifically, Trevor believes in the power of engaging and telling one’s story. By engaging the stories of others with kindness, empathy, and thoughtfulness, Trevor seeks to help his clients piece together the fragmented parts of their lives, transforming brokenness and tragedy into wholeness and beauty. Trevor also believes that counseling provides the relational setting necessary for healing to happen. As relational beings, healing is always a relational process. Too many people stay stuck because of shame and isolation. Counseling provides the context for individuals to bring all of who they are—the good, the bad, and the ugly—into the open. It is here in the safety of the counseling relationship where individuals discover the healing and integration that is possible when we allow ourselves to be fully known, and fully loved.
Personally, Trevor loves cycling, running, and swimming—really anything outdoors and active. He also loves spending time with his wife Brittney (also a counselor) and their Mini Golden Doodle, Teddy. Trevor and Brittney love the beach, the mountains, good food, good coffee, reading, and traveling and learning about other cultures. Both having a background in foreign languages; Trevor and Brittney spent time living in Spain as church-planters and have traveled all over Latin America and different parts of the world.
