“Have you ever considered becoming a therapist?”
A mentor asked Scotty that question, suggesting he might have a gift for the work, and it stayed with him. That comment opened the door to his own counseling journey—one that helped him make sense of lifelong anxiety, depression, and the parts of his story he’d never slowed down long enough to understand. Experiencing real change in therapy clarified his direction: help people engage their inner world with honesty, courage, and clarity.
He earned his BA in Psychology while working full-time and raising a family, then completed his MA in Counseling at Reformed Theological Seminary. Scotty began his career working almost exclusively with couples, and that foundation naturally grew into specialized work around intimacy injuries, compulsive sexual behavior, and personal reintegration. His approach draws from attachment science and Emotionally Focused Therapy, informed by trauma-aware practices and CSAT training. He also supports pastors and executives who shoulder high levels of responsibility and relational complexity.
Before stepping fully into private practice, Scotty spent roughly 25 years serving in multiple ministry capacities at Northland Church in Longwood, FL Those years gave him a clear view of the pressures leaders face: burnout, isolation, interpersonal strain, and the emotional cost of managing an unrelenting schedule and high expectations. That long exposure to ministry culture now shapes much of his work with leaders, couples, and clients navigating faith-related wounds or transitions.
Outside the office, Scotty enjoys spending time with his wife and four children; playing and listening to music, reading and binge-worthy TV.
